In January 2018, H&M appeared at the center of a racism scandal caused by a printed hooded top with the words “coolest monkey in the jungle.”  

Before H&M removed the ad, it was available to everyone on the British version of the online store.

many cut ties with the world-famous clothing brand over it.

Specifically, the Weeknd, a Canadian singer who collaborated with H&M, stated on Twitter  

First TV appearance with an all-star cast on the show “All Right With Us.”

“deeply offended and will not be working with H&M anymore.”

H&M issued a statement that read, “We sincerely apologize for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top.

From a certain perspective, there’s no such thing as bad advertising.

In the long run, the worst marketing campaigns may be successful — however provoking or disgusting they are — due to the hype they spread.
